Give THES some love! 💗 💕 💗 💕

This week is our annual no hassle “I Travis Heights Elementary” fundraiser. Students who return their envelope with a donation (or are indicated in the online donation form) by Friday, February 18th will receive a free “I Travis Heights” keychain.

Our goal is $30,000 and 100% family participation, so please give what you can. Don’t forget to encourage family and friends to support our school too. (Remind them that a simple cash donation saves them from repeated appeals to buy candy, cookie dough or wrapping paper!)

And, did you know there is also a grade level contest? All week long, we will be keeping track of donations made in each child’s name. There is no minimum, and one donation can be marked for a whole family. Simply list each child you wish to be counted. At the end of the week, the grade with the most participation wins!

THES Yard Signs are Here!

The long-awaited opportunity to display your Thunderbird pride in your own front yard is back! Purchase your yard sign at the I THES table before school this week or at Thursday’s PTA meeting. $10 suggested donation.

PTA Meeting & Performance THURSDAY!

Join us for a school-wide PTA meeting this Thursday (Feb 16) at 6pm. (See the attached flyer for a list of meeting topics) Then stay for a musical performance by our 4th & 5th grade students.

New Website Features

Don’t forget to jump online from time to time to check out our new website features. Our teachers have been busy posting info about what’s happening in the classroom to their grade level pages and the student photojournalism team adds new posts each week.

The Shamrock Dance is Coming! ??

Calling all 3rd-5th graders to come boogie on down on March 3rd at THES! This dance party fundraiser supports the field trip to the Alamo!

Box Tops Deals!

Now through Feb 21st, you can earn bonus Boxtops certificates at HEB. If 15 Boxtops products are purchased in a single transaction it earns an 100 Boxtops coupon, if 10 products are purchased it is a 60 Boxtops coupon. That is $10 or $6 for our school and it adds up! The coupon/certificate is printed out at the end of the transaction and often you have to ask for it.

Spirit Store Coordinator
Do you enjoy styling in your Thunderbird gear? Wish you had more? You can make it happen! The Spirit Store Coordinator is in charge of tracking inventory and organizing volunteers for Spirit Store sales.

Communications Team
Want to be one of the first to know about what’s going on at school? Consider joining the Communications team. This group helps ensure that parents are kept informed about what’s happening at the school by updating the website, maintaining our social media presence, and sending the e-folder/Wednesday Folder each week. Additional help is always needed!

    Please attend this special training at our school on Monday, April 29th, from 4-5:30PM with Isabel Guerrero of Austin Interfaith. Please RSVP to Colin Clark at or Isabel at

    Isabel will train us in the tried-and-true organizing principles and practices that our school community has used in years past to win our in-district charter and help families facing displacement.

    We will learn how to host "House Meetings," where we identify issues of concern and identify new leaders for our school, as well as how to organize campaigns to win on our issues.

    As our school population changes, and as families face a variety of challenges, including housing insecurity, language barriers, and deportation threats, this training is foundational to organizing ourselves for the best outcomes for our children, students, faculty and staff.
