Awards Assemblies! 🏆

First off, so sorry for the incorrect assembly times in last week’s e-folder. 😕  Even though we try our hardest, we don’t always get it right. There was a time switch we weren’t aware of and we apologize for not catching it sooner. This week we should be spot on though.

3rd-5th Grade Awards are this Friday, Jan 20th, in the Cafeteria

  • 3rd grade 8:00
  • 4th grade 8:50
  • 5th grade 9:40

Thursday, Jan. 19th is Science Fair! 🔬

All are welcome to come and view the work of our Thunderbird scientists!

  • Public Viewing 5:30-6:00pm
  • Awards 6:00pm
  • Clean-up 6:15-6:30pm (Help is always welcome with clean-up)

Students wishing to participate in the science fair should bring projects to school on the 19th and take them to their classroom. (Don’t forget to check the requirement handouts for details on what to include in your display and what is prohibited.) Each grade level will have a designated time in the morning for setting up projects in the cafeteria. Once everything is set up, students will have the opportunity to view the Science Fair with their classes. Judging will take place in the afternoon (Science Fair is closed to viewing during judging.) Families are welcome to view the projects during public viewing in the evening.

It’s Box Tops time!

Gather all those Box tops you’ve been saving and bring them to your teacher by next Friday 1/27! The school earns 10 cents for every Box top it collects! See attached flyer for more information.

Check out the attached flyer for important ordering information. (Hint: all money/orders are due on the 24th!)

??  Coffee Chat- Jan 27th, 8am

Our January Coffee Chat will include a discussion about the recent state school ratings and what it means for THES. As always, there will also be an opportunity for general Q & A with the principal. Coffee Chats are a great place to meet other parents and get a feel for what’s going on at the school- we hope to see you there!

Volunteer Corner

Young Writer’s Workshop
Our annual Young Writer’s Workshop is being held February 7th. Volunteers are needed to help with monitoring sessions and hospitality. Sign up online!

Carnival Captains Wanted!
A THES tradition since the 1940s, Fall Carnival is a night filled with games, food, and fun, all while raising money to support our school! Help us keep this awesome tradition alive by volunteering as Carnival Co-Coordinator. Duties include supervising teams of volunteers to organize games/booths, provide publicity, recruit volunteers and arrange for logistics at the event. Captains are also needed for Carnival teams- Booths, Publicity, Setup/Cleanup, Volunteers, Supplies, and Sponsorship. For more information, please contact: volunteers @ travisheightselementary . com

Communications team
Want to be one of the first to know about what’s going on at school? Consider joining the Communications team. This group helps ensure that parents are kept informed about what’s happening at the school by updating the website, maintaining our social media presence, and sending the e-folder/Wednesday Folder each week.     Ice Cream Social/Meet Your Teacher

    Time: 3:30 pm-5:30 pm


    Annual Back-to-School Ice Cream Social: Find classroom assignments and meet your teacher at this annual event. Come by any time after 3:30 and stroll through your classroom. The cafeteria will have information about the school available and ice cream/non-allergen icy pops available to cool off from the heat. Please plan on stopping by the cafeteria with your child.

    The social is also a great time to bring school supplies to your classroom too! School supplies can be placed in a bag with your child’s name on it. Please do not place your child’s name on individual items/school supplies within the bag. If you cannot make the social, school supplies can be brought in the first week of school. Questions about supplies can also be posed to teachers at the social or during the first week of school as well, and purchased thereafter.
