Science Fair is almost here! 🔬

All are welcome to come and view the work of our Thunderbird scientists Thursday Jan. 19th!

  • Public Viewing  5:30-6pm
  • Awards  6pm
  • Clean-up  6:15-6:30pm (Help is always welcome with clean-up)

Students wishing to participate in the science fair should bring projects to school on the 19th and take them  to their classroom. (Don’t forget to check the requirement handouts for details on what to include in your display and what is prohibited.)  Each grade level will have a designated time in the morning for setting up projects in the cafeteria.  Once everything is set up, students will have the opportunity to view the Science Fair with their classes.  Judging will take place in the afternoon (Science Fair is closed to viewing during judging). Families are welcome to view the projects during public viewing in the evening.

Science Fair Judges are still needed! if you are able to help with judging the afternoon of the 19th, please contact our awesome Science Fair Coordinator,  Tonya Penny at: Training (and lunch!)  is provided and judges are needed from 11:30 to 2:30 or 3pm (it may be shorter depending on the number of projects).

Awards Assemblies! 🏆

It’s time to celebrate the awesome work of our Thunderbird students!  Awards Assemblies are the next two Friday mornings in the Cafeteria.

Lower grades (K-2nd) This Friday, January 13th

  • Kinder 8:00-8:40
  • 2nd grade 8:50-9:30
  • 1st grade 9:40-10:20

Upper Grades (3rd-5th)  January 20th

  • 3rd grade 8:00-8:40
  • 4th grade 8:50-9:40
  • 5th grade grade 9:50-10:30

Pre-K joins the Friday Assemblies this week!

This Friday’s Assembly is for PK-1st grade. (Second grade now attends the upper grade assemblies). All PK, K and 1st grade students will head directly the the gym for assembly on Friday.  Parents you can join the fun too- just don’t forget to cheer for the spirit stick!

Free ticket to Six Flags!
This week’s folder contains the Six Flags Read to Succeed forms.  Students who complete the form and return it to Ms. Underwood by the deadline will earn a free ticket to Six Flags!

Bluebonnet Book Forms due this week!
3rd-5th grade students who would like to be invited to Ms. Underwood’s Bluebonnet Book Party need to turn in all their completed book forms by this Friday, Jan. 13th.

Photojournalism Team 👩?💻 👨🏻?💻 👨🏾?💻 👩🏼?💻 👩🏾?💻

Applications are being accepted now for Third and Fourth Graders who are interested in joining the Photojournalism team.  This student team documents school activities on our Thundernews blog.

Look out for sign up forms soon and return them quickly – classes fill up fast!

Volunteer Corner

Wednesday Folder Volunteers
Even though you are clearly an e-folder fan, we still have many families who need to receive their information in paper form. Volunteers are needed to fill these folders each Wednesday morning. It’s an easy task when we have lots of volunteers. Just swing by the cafeteria after drop off on Wednesdays, and stay as long as you are able. No commitment necessary, come when you can. This is also a great place to meet other parents and catch up on all the latest THES happenings. Hope to see you next Wednesday!

Fundraising Team 💰
Are you interested in supporting the innovative educational programs at Travis Heights? Consider joining the fundraising team. Volunteers are needed to help with the annual PTA fundraiser in February. Please contact for more information.

    Ice Cream Social/Meet Your Teacher

    Time: 3:30 pm-5:30 pm


    Annual Back-to-School Ice Cream Social: Find classroom assignments and meet your teacher at this annual event. Come by any time after 3:30 and stroll through your classroom. The cafeteria will have information about the school available and ice cream/non-allergen icy pops available to cool off from the heat. Please plan on stopping by the cafeteria with your child.

    The social is also a great time to bring school supplies to your classroom too! School supplies can be placed in a bag with your child’s name on it. Please do not place your child’s name on individual items/school supplies within the bag. If you cannot make the social, school supplies can be brought in the first week of school. Questions about supplies can also be posed to teachers at the social or during the first week of school as well, and purchased thereafter.
