PTA News

Hey Thunderbirds! Hope this finds you well. A few things to cover this week:

General PTA Meeting and 2nd/3rd Grade Performance LIVE AND IN PERSON!!! TONIGHT! Thursday 3/24 at 5:30pm. Please come and join us. I really want to see some old and new faces. In addition to the PTA meeting and performance, this will be your first (of other) chance to drop off your gently used clothing, housewares, etc. for the Thunderbird Thrift Sale taking place on Saturday 4/2, right along side Campus Beautification Day.

We are confirmed for our Profit Share night with our great friends at Pho Please! Monday April 4th, they will be sharing a portion of proceeds with Travis Heights Elementary PTA, so take a night off from cooking AND support a great local business and your school. Click here for info on Pho Please.

THES Thrift Sale

Thunderbird Thrift Sale returns!

We are so glad to announce that the Thunderbird Thrift Sale will be returning this year. The sale will be on Saturday April 2nd from 9am-12pm. Start saving those items you’d like to donate.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Click here to sign up to assist with this event. There are several opportunities over a few days, so please find one that works for you and come on out to help. This event will happen alongside Campus Beautification, Vaccine Clinic, and Registration Drive. So much going on!

Campus Beautification Day

In addition to the Thunderbird Thrift Sale, April 2nd will also bring back another long time THES tradition, Campus Beautification. We will all join together to spruce up our wonderful grounds. It’s been a minute, so there will be plenty of work for all levels of expertise. We will meet at 9am beside the cafeteria and go to town! Snacks will be provided.

Shamrock Dance Thank You’s!

Many thanks to everyone that pitched in to make the Shamrock Dance a great success. As this was our first “back to normal” event, it was so great to see it go so well. 4th grade was able to raise money to pay for their trip to The Alamo and it couldn’t have happened without so much support. We all had so much fun and it was really special to see our upper grade Thunderbirds back out and having fun.

Book Fair

We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. This event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.

After missing out on many beloved traditions, our spring Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. It will take place from April 4-8 in the library. Families will be allowed to shop online or in-person before/after school (7:10-7:40; 3:10-4:00).

Volunteers wanted! If you’d like to volunteer at the book fair, please e-mail our librarian Debby Harris at debbyharris@austinisd.org. She would appreciate any and all help 🙂.

We can’t wait to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair. We look forward to seeing your child there! Happy reading!

Career Day at Travis Heights: PRESENTERS NEEDED

This Spring the counselors and administrators are organizing a Career Day on March 31st from 1:00 – 3:00pm. We need presenters who would be willing to speak to our 4th and 5th graders about their jobs! If you or someone you know is interested in giving a presentation to share some professional wisdom with our students, please email raquel.brown@austinisd.org for more information. We are looking for a variety of job representatives.

Picture Day Rescheduled

Class Picture Day Rescheduled – April 19, 2022

What is better than picture day in elementary school? Looking at your pictures 20 years later!! Picture day is coming fast and this year individual and class pictures will be taken on the same day! Be sure to have your best look on that day.
