PTA News!

I spent a lot of time trying to think of what to say for this, my final PTA News for the Thursday Thunderword. I thought about recapping all the great things we’ve all done together over the last two years. The trials and tribulations of navigating a pandemic. Trying to support our school and Thunderbirds at a distance, planning and canceling events for nearly two years, and the controlled chaos of trying to squeeze in as many events as possible these last couple of months. It’s been a wild ride! I just want to thank all of the people that have worked together over these two years to do as much as we could. The PTA Board and other PTA parents, the amazing staff of THES, and the community in general. I am truly proud and humbled to have been part of everything we’ve been able to accomplish.

As I transition to a new role as Parliamentarian, I leave the helm of the Travis Heights Elementary PTA in some more than capable hands. Already, new board members have stepped up and jumped in to support our school and all of our Thunderbirds. Many thanks to Dani, Ingrid, Meredith, Leslie, Rory, and Tracy for taking the plunge into the PTA Board. Also thanks to all the other Committee Chairs, Mary, Deb, Monika, Ellie, Anna, Oliver, Maragret, Sara, and others. What you do really does make a difference.

Thunderbird Fun Fest was SO MUCH FUN! I especially want to give out an MVP award to Anna Roth for all the work she did to make it happen. Lots of folks pitched in, but her leadership was paramount to the success of this event that really brought us all together for the end of the year. Appreciation Pump!!!

Everyone have a fun and safe summer and I can’t wait to see you all again for the Ice Cream Social right before school starts back in August.

The best to you all

It’s hard to believe it is almost here! Please note, there is no early release on this day. Contact your teacher for the end of year celebration activities for their classroom. Report cards and supply lists for the next school year will go home on the last day. Happy Summer, Thunderbirds!

School Supplies for 2022-2023

We are happy to announce that we have chosen to sell prepackaged school supplies for the next school year through, School Tool Box. Place your order online and it will be delivered directly to your home address.

You will have the option to customize your order by adding or removing items from the teacher-approved list. Already have a ruler or scissors? Remove them. Need an additional box of crayons for home or supplies for a sibling? Add them. It’s that simple!

In order to make sure you have your supplies before school starts, place your order by July 20, 2021. To order online, set up an account at: https://www.schooltoolbox.com/

Access To Healthy Food

With many AISD students living in food-insecure households, access to healthy food may be challenging when the district is closed. Families can use the community resources below to find free meals in their area:

Introducing iKids After School Program

Hello Travis Heights Community!

iKids is honored to be given the opportunity to bring our program to Travis Heights. We are working together with the Travis Heights Administrative Team, to plan a program that best fits your community’s needs. We offer a variety of onsite after-school opportunities for PreK – 5th Grade, including our curriculum based Stay & Play program from 3:10 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Enrichment classes such as Junior Chefs, Junior Science & Art, Brain Games, Sports, and more, plus One-on-One Tutoring services.

Parents are able to customize their child’s after-school schedule, one to five days a week, with part-time and full-time options available! You only pay for what you need! iKids is a safe way for students to socialize and have fun with friends! Fees for our 5 days a week core, curriculum based Stay & Play Program are 10 installments of $375. Each Enrichment Class is an additional add-on.

In order to bring our Full time Enrichment and Care Program to Travis Heights, we would require a minimum of 20 – 30 full time students enrolled. We are entering into our 7th year of partnering with AISD and we are very excited to learn more about Travis Heights.

We have prepared a quick survey below that will help us learn more about your interests in out of school activities. By participating in this brief survey, you help iKids U design a proposal for creative, recreational, and STEM-based enrichment, specifically for your campus. Please respond by Friday, May 27th. Thank you for your time and participation in this process.
