HAPPY WEDNESDAY THUNDERBIRDS!
Thunderbirds I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. Take care of your loved ones. We all miss you tremendously. During this time it is important to work together and remember what is truly important to us. Take the time to appreciate one another and spend this time with our loved ones learning how to manage this new way of living. We are here for you and please know we are working hard every day to support our Thunderbirds. AISD school and office buildings are closed indefinitely. However, school is in session! And we encourage you to participate in the virtual learning opportunities provided by your teacher.  We will continue to communicate with you and provide updates.

A SPECIAL MESSAGE TO PARENTS FROM ADMIN
We just want to check-in, share updates, and continue to work together to get through these new ways of living virtually! Take a peek at our video.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. MBAYA
Props to Mr. Mbaya for helping all of us to remember to stay safe and the importance of washing our hands. We hope you love it because he had fun making it this for all of our Thunderbirds. Check it out on KTHE-TV, our THES YouTube Channel.

TRAVIS HEIGHTS ONLINE LEARNING
Check out our campus website for online learning resources.  Austin ISD introduced formal distant learning instruction on Monday, April 6th.  Please connect with your classroom teacher for specific lessons and assignments as well as take advantage of the Austin ISD Learn At Home resource.

APRIL MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Thunderbirds, wake up and join us on Class DOJO to say the pledge every day at 7:45 am! We will have special guests joining in daily to give shout outs,  share funny jokes, and offer some mindfulness strategies. We will also host the upper and lower grade assemblies on Youtube. Tune in to check out all the fun!

UPDATED AISD GRADING POLICY
Under the new policy, all students will receive either a grade of Pass or Incomplete. Teachers will provide feedback on student performance and monitor progress. A record of incomplete will not affect a student’s ability to advance to the next grade or graduate, but rather will identify students who need extra support in the summer or next year. Teachers can monitor progress via phone conversation if the family doesn’t have reliable access to computers or the internet.

STAY CONNECTED
Please be sure that you and your child are able to log into Blend through the AISD portal: https://thesrocks.wordpress.com/. You may call the parent support line at 512-414-9187 for technology help; support is available weekdays from 7am-5pm. If you do not have access to a device for online learning, I encourage you to visit one of the curbside locations and pick up a packet of work for your student to complete at home. We appreciate your patience as we work through all of the many pieces of this new version of school.
