HAPPY WEDNESDAY THUNDERBIRDS!
A big appreciation PUMP, PUMP, PUMP to our teachers, admin, staff, parents, and kids who are putting forth such a wonderful effort in making our distance learning take off! We know there will be challenges along the way, but we are in this together…and the Thunderbird community is here to support you. Class DOJO has been such an instrumental tool in communicating with our parents and connecting with our students.
A MESSAGE FROM US TO YOU
You don’t want to miss this — We hope you love it because we had fun making it for you and we want you all to know how much we miss you all!
TRAVIS HEIGHTS ONLINE LEARNING
Check out our campus website for online learning resources. Austin ISD introduced formal distant learning instruction on Monday, April 6th. Please connect with your classroom teacher for specific lessons and assignments as well as take advantage of the Austin ISD Learn At Home resource.
MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS + LOWER GRADE ASSEMBLY
Thunderbirds wake up and join us on Class DOJO to say the pledge every day at 7:45 am! We will have special guests joining in daily to give shout outs, share funny jokes, and offer some mindfulness strategies. We will also host the lower grade assembly on DOJO tomorrow (4/9). Tune in!
Please be sure that you and your child are able to log into Blend through the AISD portal: https://thesrocks.wordpress.com/. You may call the parent support line at 512-414-9187 for technology help; support is available weekdays from 7am-5pm. If you do not have access to a device for online learning, I encourage you to visit one of the curbside locations and pick up a packet of work for your student to complete at home. We appreciate your patience as we work through all of the many pieces of this new version of school.

FAQs: CHROMEBOOK DISTRIBUTION + SURVEY+ AISD WIFI BUSES
This info pertains to 3-5th grade. AISD sent an email out district-wide to all families regarding the technology needs for your student. Please complete the survey as soon as possible. This information is time-sensitive. Please check your junk email as well, if you do not see the email right off. If you did not receive an email then it is possible that there is not one currently listed in your student’s file. Please contact your child’s teacher so that we may try and help your family with a device for school work. Please read this FAQ document for all of the current information!
For all students and families with limited access to devices and the internet, the district has organized activity packets for pick up. Click the link below for locations and schedule: https://sites.google.com/austinisd.org/aisd-learning-at-home
Your child’s 3rd 9-week report card has been uploaded to your parent portal account (can be accessed using web browser Google chrome at my.austinisd.org). It is important for parents to have access to their parent cloud account for various purposes:
- View your child’s current grades, attendance, and email your child’s teacher directly.
- Register your child for the 2020-2021 school year as paper registrations are not available at this time. Here you can update phone numbers, add/ remove emergency contacts. *Students who aren’t registered will not be placed in a class next school year.
Can’t remember your password, or username? Please follow the password reset button to reset your password, or click “forgot password/ username” link, follow the instructions to have your username sent directly to your email. Parents without a cloud account will need to create one, you will also need your child’s student ID number. Parents with other issues logging in should call the parent technology helpline at 512-414-9187. Feel free to send an email to Ms. Gio: firstname.lastname@example.org for additional help, or questions.
TEXAS 2X2 LIST
People have been asking for the Texas 2X2 book list. If you haven’t read your 2X2s yet this year, you might have time to read them all now! You can use your library card to check out e-books at Austin libraries. If you need help or have questions, please message Mrs. Underwood on DOJO.
THES COUNSELORS WEB PAGE
In case you missed it on the morning announcements, Mrs. Piedra made a brief PSA to visit the counselor webpage on the new THES website for daily social and emotional learning (SEL) implementation ideas. In order to reduce the number of posts we send you on Class Dojo, we’re hoping you can check in daily to see what your school counselors are doing to support your children from our webpage. Feel free to message Mrs. Piardra or Ms. Cano on Class DoJo for support! Counselor page: https://sites.google.com/austinisd.org/thesonline/counselors?authuser=0
