HOLIDAY COOKIES AT MAÑANA BENEFITTING THES

Now through the end of December, South Congress Hotel will donate $1 from every purchase of a holiday sugar cookie created uniquely for Travis Heights Elementary by the pastry chefs at Mañana. Stop by for a cup of coffee and a holiday treat while benefiting your favorite school. Be sure to let the staff know you came for the cookie and thank them for their partnership! Go early as they have been selling out fast. If you are interested in purchasing cookies by the dozen, the kitchen needs at least 72 hours notice. DOI DAYS
AISD is a District of Innovation (DOI) which gives all AISD schools some of the benefits that charter schools enjoy, such as setting aside days for additional teacher training, what we call DOI PD Days (you can read more about it here: www.austinisd.org/districtofinnovation).THES teachers will spend the day adding to their skills with professional development, a discussion about best practices, analyzing student data, Project Based Learning and planning. We look forward to using this learning in the classroom!

WINTER BREAK CAMPS

Code Galaxy (formerly Launch Code After School), a THES Carnival booth sponsor, is offering Winter Break Day Camps in Robotics, App Development, Hacking Minecraft, and Junior Coding. Classes offered at both Westlake and Downtown locations. Most camps are available multiple dates in either half day or full day. Camps will run on 12/23, 12/26, 12/27, 12/30, 1/2 & 1/3. View class descriptions and reserve your spot!

THUNDERBIRD SHOWCASE
January 16, 6pm
Please join us for our annual Thunderbird Community Showcase as students and teachers highlight the amazing Project Based Learning (PBL) work that has taken place in our Pre K4 through 5th grade classrooms. The Thunderbird Showcase provides students the opportunity to share their learning and demonstrate the processes and products that has taken place throughout the year. Spread the word and please join us for a very special evening at Travis Heights Elementary.
