Happy Wednesday Thunderbirds!

Many thanks to everyone who pitched in to make Fall Carnival incredibly fun and successful! It was wonderful to see our children play at the booths and delight in dunking our hardy volunteers. The food was delicious and the dance floor was hopping. This event would not be possible without the generosity of our volunteers, partners, and neighborhood businesses. THANK YOU so much! And a great big Appreciation Pump 💪‼ 💪‼ 💪‼ to Toni Wakefield for chairing this year’s event. If you see her in the hallway give her a high-five 🖐!

It’s Party Time!

Thunderbird Party to benefit Project Based Learning (PBL)

Please join Travis Heights Elementary friends, alumni, and neighbors for a cocktail party to benefit PBL at THES! Adults only, delish food + drinks. Tickets are $50/person and a Thunderbird Friends Sponsorship is $500 (includes four tickets and a special gift). Tickets/Sponsorships are now on sale online here through November 7

PBL is a teaching method in which students learn by working for an extended period of time to research and respond to a real–world, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge. Teachers often have to pay for project supplies out of their own pockets or parents are asked to help contribute what they can so that students can work together and build their projects. The teachers and students appreciate your tax-deductible support of the Thunderbird Party!

Come enjoy a Thunderbird Thanksgiving with your Kiddos

Thursday, November 15

We invite you to join your student for a Thanksgiving turkey lunch at school! Tickets are required to eat the school provided lunch with your child and will be on sale before school October 29 through November 6 (cash only). Tickets are $4 for visitors (you only need to purchase a ticket if you plan on eating the lunch provided by the cafeteria).

Lunchtimes will be slightly different on November 15 so please check with your child’s teacher for their revised time. As this is the busiest lunch time of the year, please arrive early to find parking and check in at the office for a visitor’s badge (you MUST bring your ID if you’ve never checked in before).

Turn in your Box Tops

Due October 26

Every year we collect Box Tops to raise money for special projects around the school. Box Tops equal 10¢ each and they quickly add up. Our goal this year is $1,000…that’s 10,000 Box Tops! If every student brings in 25 Box Tops for the entire school year, we’ll hit our goal and then some! The class with the MOST Box Tops out of lower grades (PK-2nd) and upper grades (3rd- 5th) will win a special reward! You can turn in Box Tops to your teacher at any time, but only Box Tops collected by October 26 will count towards the special prize! Learn more about BOX TOPS here.

Picture Retake Day

Tuesday, November 1

You should be receiving your child(ren)’s photos in their Wednesday folder today!

If your child was absent for picture day on September 27, or you would like to retake photos, please fill out the form in this week’s Wednesday folder and return it to your teacher. If you ordered pictures and are unhappy with them, you MUST return the package in its entirety to retake without paying for new pictures. Students who were absent on September 27 will have their picture taken regardless. Please send picture money and order form or returned picture packages on November 1. Extra order forms are in the front office. WE CANNOT ACCEPT LATE ORDERS.

Family Fun & Fitness (3rd-5th grade)

Upper-Grade students will participate in their annual Field Day from 8–11am on Friday, November 16.  Parents are invited to participate! Please mark your calendar—more information to come.

Pajama Day is October 31

Halloween costumes are not allowed at school. Instead, encourage your child to participate in our annual spirit day by wearing pajamas!

If you would like to opt out of paper fliers, please be sure to check the box on the front of our child’s Wednesday folder. Please help us reduce waste and save money!
