Wednesday Folder – April 25, 2018

Happy Wednesday Thunderbirds!!

Coffee Chat this Friday!

Join us THIS Friday, April 27th at 8am for coffee and a conversation regarding Blended Learning and technology at our school.

Friday is Mustache Day!

or is it Moustache? or perhaps Mustachio? … any way you spell it – it’s time to channel your inner Tom Selleck and paste a hunka hair under your nose!

It’s Party time!

The school will be hosting a celebration to honor Ms. Robertson’s many years of service to our campus, THIS Friday, April 27th from 4-6pm.

For anyone unable to make it on Friday, or anyone who thinks one party just isn’t enough, the PTA will also be hosting a Community Potluck in Ms. Robertson’s honor on Saturday, May 12th from 3-6pm.

If you would like to help with the Potluck party, please contact Eliza Platts-Mills at ptapresident @ travisheightselementary.com or Julie Ulrich at volunteers @ travisheightselementary.com

Does THES have Talent?

The Student Council is sponsoring a Student TALENT SHOW at the May 12th Community Potluck. Performances will take place from 4-5:30. Check out the attached flyer for details on signups and rehearsals.

Which School Events are Important to You?

Last chance to tell us what you think!

As we plan our calendar of events for the next school year, we are interested in getting parent feedback on some of the events we’ve held. This feedback will be used to help us determine how to best schedule these events. Please return the paper surveys from your Wednesday Folder to the office by TOMORROW, Thursday, April 26, or you can complete the survey online here.

Teacher Appreciation Week is Next Week!

Check out the attached flyer for suggestions on how to make your teacher feel extra special each day. Do as little or as much as works for your family!

If you’re interested in volunteering or bringing food for one of the meals we’re hosting for the teachers and staff, please clink on the links for the SignUpGenius pages:

Sign Up for Monday Snack Bar

Sign Up for Wednesday Sandwich Bar

Sign Up for Thursday Popsicle Social

If you can’t bring an item or volunteer but you’d still like to contribute, you can donate online now and check the box for Teacher Appreciation. All the funds will go towards making the week special for the people who spend all day helping our little folks grow and learn.

Thank you for your help!

Good news: Book Fair is coming!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to the Travis Heights Library next week, April 30th-May 4th. It will be open 8:00-3:00, Monday-Thursday and 8:00-11am on Friday.

Wednesday is Family Night- The Book Fair will stay open until 6:00 P.M. and the Kona Ice snow cone truck will be here starting at 2:00 P.M. too!

Need an idea of Teacher Appreciation Week? Don’t forget to take a look at your teachers’ book wishlists, if you’d like to surprise them with a book they’d love.

See you at the book fair!

T-Bird Fiesta! Save The Date!

Join us from 5:30- 8pm on May 8th. for the 8th annual year end celebration at Guero’s Taco Bar (in the Oak Garden)! It is always a fun night with friends, family, tacos, drinks and performances by The THES school Choir, and performers from Fulmore Middle School & Travis High.

We need Heros – be a Champion!

The T-Bird Fiesta serves as the primary fund-raiser for our rising 5th graders to attend an overnight trip to Camp Champions next year. This is a unique and very special experience for Travis Heights students, but not everyone can easily afford the cost. We are raising money to make sure EVERYONE can go!

We are looking for at least 25 people from the community to give $150, which is a FULL SCHOLARSHIP. In return, you get to be a Camp Champions Champion!!! (formerly known as VIP.) Camp Champions Champions get to enjoy a ton of benefits at the party, including:

  • recognition and gratitude from the future 5th graders (or you can remain anonymous)
  • 2 coupons for house drinks
  • 4 coupons for free tacos
  • a happy feeling in your heart, knowing you are helping a kid in your neighborhood

Be a hero, donate now!

Communications is where it’s at!

Want to be one of the first to know about what’s going on at school? Join the Communications team! This group helps keep parents informed about what’s happening at the school and additional help is always needed.

We are looking for people to:

  • write announcements for the website & social media
  • create flyers for events and activities
  • report on interesting happenings at the school
  • remind event leaders to submit communications

Contact volunteers@travisheightselementary.com for more information. We really would love to work with you, so please come join the fun!
