Hopefully you are finding your school groove and enjoying your awesome new teachers! Thanks for making Back to School night such a success last week. It was great seeing all the parents engaged in the classrooms and making new friends, too. We couldn’t do it without everyone’s support and love of THES.
PTA Membership Drive—this week.
Representatives will be set up in the lobby after drop off and on the play pad during pick up to answer questions and welcome new parents to the PTA. If you are not able to sign up in person, it’s a snap to sign up online!
First Lower Grade Assembly—Friday.
Hey Kindergarteners, 1st Graders, and 2nd Graders…let’s see your school pride this Friday! Parents are welcome to join. Meet in the gym at 7:35 rockin’ your Thunderbird shirt! If you still need one, you can purchase it in the lobby starting at 7:15. It may be one of the last chances to get one!
Outdoor Learning Space
Saturday, September 15, 8am–5pm
Please join us! In honor of former principal Mrs. Robertson, we will break ground on the outdoor learning space this weekend. There will be free breakfast tacos, donuts, and pizza! If you have them, please bring wheelbarrows, shovels, gloves, and drills.
All welcome for Fall Beautifical Day!
Saturday, September 22
We need everyone to come together starting at 9am to work on beautifying our school! Bring your children, relatives, neighbors, and anyone who enjoys gardening, carpentry, and grounds clean–up. Whether you stay one hour or the entire day, that is fine by us. Don’t forget a water bottle, gloves, tools, and wheelbarrows needed if you have one!

Eat delicious Vietnamese food and support THES. Pho Please will generously donate 20% of all sales on this day to help fund our school initiatives—takeout included! Hours of operation will be 11am–10pm and they are located at 1920 E. Riverside Dr.
Library Help Needed
If you have some time during the school day on Monday, October 1 the library could use your help with annual inventory and setting up for the Used Book Fair, which starts on Tuesday, October 2. Please contact Mrs. Underwood to sign up.
DOI Days (no school)—mark your calendars!
As part of AISD’s District of Innovation status, the Travis Vertical Team (which includes Travis Heights) has added five in-service days. These are student holidays in addition to those on the AISD calendar: October 5, December 20, January 3 & 4, and February 15. Please note, other schools may have different dates than Travis Heights.
For parents needing childcare, Extend-A-Care (512.472.9402) and Creative Action (512.442.8773) are offering day camps.
Volunteer Orientation Days

All volunteers (including field trip chaperones) must submit a background check through Austin Partners in Education each year, and complete an AISD Confidentiality Agreement. Please see the volunteer page of our website for more details.
