HAPPY WEDNESDAY THUNDERBIRDS!
Thunderbirds we are in our third week of distance learning. I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. We miss everyone so much! We are sending a huge virtual hug to everyone. During this time it is important to work together and remember what is truly important to us. Take time to breathe and we will be stronger once we come together again.  We are here for you and please know we are working hard every day to support our Thunderbirds. AISD school and office buildings are closed indefinitely. However, school is in session! We encourage you to participate in the virtual learning opportunities provided by your teacher.  We will continue to communicate with you and provide updates.

EARTH WEEK 2020
This year is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day! We hope that every student will take a moment to think about how they can make the earth and our community a better place and perform an action to do so. Austin ISD’s Earth Day webpage offers fun ways to engage and take action from home including Earth Day bingo and lots of sustainability activities. Enjoy! https://www.austinisd.org/sustainability/earth-week

VIRTUAL COFFEE CHAT
Friday, April 24
Please join our amazing counselors for Healthy Emotional Regulation Strategies. A DOJO link will be sent out for parents. The counselors will discuss ways our community can learn to handle the stresses we are now facing due to COVID 19. We will be including tips on self-care, mindful breathing, managing thoughts, and managing daily life.

AISD LEARNING AT HOME
Austin ISD introduced formal distant learning instruction on Monday, April 6th.  Please connect with your classroom teacher for specific lessons and assignments as well as take advantage of the Austin ISD Learn At Home resource: https://sites.google.com/austinisd.org/aisd-learning-at-home

UPDATED AISD GRADING POLICY
Under the new policy, all students will receive either a grade of Pass or Incomplete. Teachers will provide feedback on student performance and monitor progress. A record of incomplete will not affect a student’s ability to advance to the next grade or graduate, but rather will identify students who need extra support in the summer or next year. Teachers can monitor progress via phone conversation if the family doesn’t have reliable access to computers or the internet.

STAY CONNECTED
Please be sure that you and your child are able to log into Blend through the AISD portal: https://thesrocks.wordpress.com/. You may call the parent support line at 512-414-9187 for technology help; support is available weekdays from 7am-5pm. If you do not have access to a device for online learning, I encourage you to visit one of the curbside locations and pick up a packet of work for your student to complete at home. We appreciate your patience as we work through all of the many pieces of this new version of school.
