Happy Wednesday Thunderbirds!

Reminder: Lower grades assembly this Friday 7:35 in the gym!


FOOD & TOILETRY ITEMS NEEDED
We have an urgent need for some basic household items and food for THES families. If you are able to contribute please drop off the following items to our Parent Support Specialist (PSS) Ms. Dianna Perez: Body soap, dish soap, shampoo, toilet paper, laundry detergent, milk, eggs, cereal, snacks for kids, pasta, pasta sauce, bread, peanut butter, jelly. Items can be left outside her door. (First office on the right when walking into the school’s front doors.) Thank you!

 

PROSPECTIVE PARENT TOURS
Travis Heights Elementary is a proud community-supported In-District Charter School. Our current families are the best way to share great news about our school. We have exciting events coming up that we would love for you to invite your friends, neighbors, or coworkers to attend and learn more about THES. No RSVP is needed to attend any of these events. Prospective parents should bring a photo ID and are welcome to bring their child.

January 10: assembly at 7:40 am in the gym and tour at 8 am
January 23: tour only at 8 am

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED–THUNDERBIRD CURBSIDE BAG FILLING
We need your help! Please join us in the cafeteria as we fill orders for our new reward program, Thunderbird Curbside! (This is the new ROCK store.) We will be putting small toys in bags for students who placed orders using ClassDojo points. Meet in the cafeteria at 7:45am

Winter Break
There is no school December 19th – January 7th.  We will see you back on Wednesday, January 8th!

ALL DECEMBER
HOLIDAY COOKIES AT MAÑANA BENEFITING THES
Now through the end of December, South Congress Hotel will donate $1 from every purchase of a holiday sugar cookie created uniquely for Travis Heights Elementary by the pastry chefs at Mañana. Stop by for a cup of coffee and a holiday treat while benefiting your favorite school. Be sure to let the staff know you came for the cookie and thank them for their partnership! Go early as they have been selling out fast.

If you are interested in purchasing cookies by the dozen, the kitchen needs at least 72 hours notice. Please email Sophia Stout: sophia.stout@mananaaustin.com

 

DOI Days
AISD is a District of Innovation (DOI) which gives all AISD schools some of the benefits that charter schools enjoy, such as setting aside days for additional teacher training, what we call DOI PD Days (you can read more about it here: www.austinisd.org/districtofinnovation).

THES teachers will spend the day adding to their skills with professional development, a discussion about best practices, analyzing student data, Project Based Learning and planning. We look forward to using this learning in the classroom!
