Send no money, a portrait package will be sent home from the school with information on how to order (allow 3-4 weeks). When choosing picture day attire, solid colors and small patterns work best!

Meet us in the cafeteria this Friday after dropoff for a light breakfast and coffee. We will be discussing Title 1 information and how it affects THES.
FALL BEAUTIFICATION DAY—all are welcome!
Saturday, September 28
Come together starting at 9am to work on beautifying our school! Bring your children, relatives, neighbors, and anyone who enjoys gardening, carpentry, and grounds clean–up. Whether you stay one hour or the entire day, that is fine by us. Don’t forget a water bottle, gloves, tools, and wheelbarrows needed if you have one!
ACPTA BACK TO THE FUTURE 2019

The THES Advocacy Team Works with the larger community to enlist support for our school and families. Please join us for a meeting in the THES library next week!
DUAL LANGUAGE NIGHT
Thursday, October 3, 5:30-6:30pm
Please join us in the cafeteria for a jammed packed evening to learn and share about “How To Scaffold With Your DL Learner.” We will discuss strategies, best practices for exceptional gains, and have lots of fun learning games/ activities for you and your child.
USED BOOK FAIR
October 7-10, 8am-3pm
Build your at-home library with some great bargain books for only 50 cents, while helping THES purchase new books! If you would like to volunteer with set up, join us in the library on Friday, October 4 at 2pm. Or, you can also help with packing up on Thursday, October 10 at 2pm. No school for students this day, but parents are expected for the first Parent Teacher Conferences of the year. If you have not signed up with your child’s teacher yet, please do so!

Our fundraising goal for Fall Carnival this year is $10,000 – that’s TWICE what we raised last year but we feel confident we can do it! Our kids and school need every penny to help cover just some of the funding shortages. OPERATION THUNDERJOY
Did you know that each year, THES works with our amazing community to bring holiday joy to the Thunderbird families who need it most? Through OPERATION THUNDERJOY, our Parent Support Specialist collects wishlists while parent volunteers find donors for hundreds of clothes, shoes, and gifts and make sure they’re appropriately wrapped, tagged and delivered. It’s a good amount of work, but it’s JOYFUL work—that will remind your kids that the real magic of the holidays is in giving, not receiving!
