Happy Wednesday Thunderbirds!
It’s been a busy week at THES. Thank you to all of the parents and volunteers who have helped show our teachers how much we appreciate them during Teacher Appreciation Week. If you have not dropped your teacher(s) a note, or a little something special this week you still have a couple of days to do so! Also, don’t forget the last Lower-Grade Assembly will be this Friday—show your school pride by wearing your Thunderbird t-shirt!
T-Bird Fiesta — thank you!
Thunderbirds, thank you so much for a fantastic Guero’s party and fundraiser last night! We had an amazing time, even though it rained. Thank you to Guero’s, to all the volunteers and donors, to our wonderful youth performers, to teachers and families, and everyone who attended and helped us celebrate our community. We can’t wait to tally the funds raised and thank all the sponsors. In the meantime, you can still champion a 5th grader for leadership camp online!
THES Mural Reception—and recent press on KUT.
We are so proud of our students for choosing diversity as a cornerstone in this mural! We are also very thankful to artist Ethan Azarian for being such a wonderful leader, the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division for their funding, and for KUT Austin for putting a spotlight on THES and this wonderful project. Watch the video here.
All are welcome to join us at the school this Friday, May 10th from 4-6pm for a Mural Reveal and Reception! Refreshments generously provided by Homeslice Pizza
STARR TESTING — no visitors, please.
May 13th – 16th
Due to STAAR testing for 3rd–5th Grades, visitors will not be allowed on campus Monday, May 13 through Thursday, May 16th in order to create a quiet testing environment. This means parents are NOT allowed to come to lunch on Wednesday, May 15th. Please do not call 3rd-5th-grade classrooms directly; you may send a Dojo message, email your child’s teacher, or relay your message to the office to be delivered when testing is completed. We appreciate your cooperation and support!
Summer Book Drive
Now until May 21st
Help make sure every THES student has books to read over the summer. Please bring books your family no longer needs and place them in the boxes around the school by May 21st. Kids will get to take home a free book the last week of school. Happy Summer reading!
If you would like to opt out of paper fliers, please be sure to check the box on the front of our child’s Wednesday folder. Please help us reduce waste and save money!
