Happy Wednesday Thunderbirds!
Don’t forget to show your school spirit and wear your Thunderbird t-shirt on Friday—it’s the last Upper-Grade Assembly of the year! The last Lower-Grade Assembly will be on 5/10. Friday (5/3) is also the last coffee chat of the year—parents & guardians are all welcome to join us at 8am in the library for a light breakfast and coffee.

Teacher Appreciation Week

May 6th–10th
With less than a month left of school, we are taking the week of May 6th to honor our wonderful Thunderbird teachers! Please participate in what works for your family and remember a thank you, smile, hug and high-five goes a long way to make a teacher feel appreciated! Here are some suggestions for this very special week:

  • Mon: Bring in a little snack for your teacher (apple, chocolate, granola bar, orange, etc).
  • Tues: Take a few minutes with your child to write a thank you note/card for your teacher.
  • Wed: Bring in a little something on their wish list or a something that you know they would like.
  • Thurs: Give a big thanks, card or treat to our specials teachers and anyone on the THES staff!
  • Fri: Bring a flower to school to create a classroom bouquet for your teacher.

We are also organizing daily activities to show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate all they do for our children Please use the links below if you can help with any of these events.

Mon Breakfast/Snack Bar

Tues/Thurs Lunch

Fri Popsicle Party

Finally, we are trying to organize a raffle for teachers. If you would like to donate an item for the raffle, please email volunteers@travisheightselementary.com.

Party People and Travis Heights Champions needed!

Tuesday, May 7th, 5:30–8pm
THES is holding the T-BIRD FIESTA (annual end-of-year celebration) at Guero’s Taco Bar in the Oak Garden on S. Congress. There will tacos! And queso! And margaritas! And entertainment! This party is the primary fundraiser for our rising 5th graders to attend a leadership camp together next year. We are raising money to make sure EVERYONE can go. We need at least 25 people from the community to give $150, which is a full scholarship. In return, you get to be a Thunderbird Champion! You can do a business or personal sponsorship. Thunderbird Champions enjoy perks at the party, including:

  • recognition and gratitude from the future 5th graders (or you can remain anonymous)
  • free house drinks and tacos (more details TBA)
  • a happy feeling in your heart, knowing you are helping a kid in your neighborhood

Be a champion: Donate now!
Click “Sponsor Student for Camp Champions.”

Donate and we’ll have your name and your free goodies at the door at Guero’s. You can also donate at Guero’s using cash or credit, and still get all the stuff—but please do it in advance if you can. Also, while we’re hoping for $150 for those who can afford it, we are super grateful for any amount you can give. Just click the link and write in the “other” box “Guero’s Spring Fundraiser.”

WANTED:  VOLUNTEERS for the Annual “End of Year Celebration” at Guero’s!

Did you know that our annual “End of Year Celebration” at Guero’s is sponsored by our rising 5th graders?  Everyone is welcome to volunteer and donate, but current 4thgrade parents are especially asked to help.

Did you know that the funds raised at this annual event help support students who need financial assistance to attend this fall’s annual 5th grade trip to Camp Champions?  That’s AWESOME!

Did you know we need your help to make this happen?  That’s the truth!

What:  Help with the “End of Year Celebration” at Guero’s on Tuesday, May 7 (5:30-8pm)

How:  Please check below how you can help make this event a success and turn a flier in to the office. Or, you can volunteer online!
