Happy Wednesday Thunderbirds!

We hope everyone enjoyed the STEAM Day this week! A big appreciation pump to our leaders Renee Pinchero, Bob O’Dair, and Sue Spaw. Another huge appreciation pump to all of our volunteers and presenters who made this such a memorable event.

Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast—this Friday!

April 26th, 8:15am

Thank you for being a volunteer! Educating our students couldn’t happen without the help of our volunteers. Please join us for our annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast in the Cafeteria.

Austin Public Library Kids BLOCK Party

Saturday, April 27th, 10am–2pm, Austin Central Library

Gather with other Austin families to celebrate children, literacy, and learning! There will be music, dancing, author events, creative pay, technology play, and a family resource fair. For more information and a full schedule of events.

Coffee Chat

Friday, May 3rd, 8am

Please join us in the THES library for our last coffee chat of the year! We will enjoy a light breakfast and coffee while showing parents how to perform a restorative circle and use it at home.

Spring into Summer Wellness Event

Saturday, May 4th & Saturday, May 18th, 10am–2pm

Stress LESS during the summer knowing your child has everything they need to go back to school in August including immunizations (bring shot records), registration, and financial screening. Families are invited to attend two events at Southeast Health Center on 5/4/19 (2901 Montopolis Dr.) and North Central Health Center on 5/18/19 (1210 W. Braker Ln.) for free fun activities like school performances, food, and refreshments. These events are in partnership with Community Care Health Centers, AISD, and Austin Public Health.

Teacher Appreciation Week

May 6th–10th

Help show our fabulous teachers some love! We are organizing daily activities to show our teachers how much we appreciate all they do every day for our children. We are requesting parents to help donate food for a breakfast/snack bar on Monday and a popsicle party on Friday. Please use the sign-up links below if you can help with those events.

We will also be providing lunch for teachers on Tuesday and Thursday. We need volunteers to help with setting up, monitoring, and cleaning up between 10:30am and 1pm on both of those days. If you can help with the lunches please email volunteers@travisheightselementary.com.

The Thunderboard needs new parent members!

Applications due Monday, May 6th

The Thunderboard serves as the primary governance and decision-making body for campus-based programming at Travis Heights Elementary. Parents that serve on the Thunderboard help shape the current programming and the future of THES. All parents and guardians that live in the district and have a child at THES are welcome to apply for one of these positions. Download and fill out the Standard Membership Application here and return it to the THES office by Monday, May 6th.

If you have any questions, or are interested and would like some help with the application due to language or technology issues, please speak with Mrs. Navarro or email thunderboard@travisheightselementary.com.

9th Annual T-Bird Fiesta

Tuesday, May 7th, 5:30–8pm

Join us at Guero’s Taco Bar in the Oak Garden to celebrate our kids completing another year of school and to and raise money for future Thunderbird 5th graders to attend Camp Champions, an outdoor school, and overnight experiential learning experience.

10% of all sales go to THES Camp Champions Fund. $5 suggested donation at the door.

THES Mural Reveal & Reception

Friday, May 10th, 4–6pm

Help us celebrate the completion of the beautiful school mural painted by THES students, under the guidance of Blue Crow Studio artist Ethan Azarian! Refreshments will generously be provided by Home Slice Pizza.
