Last Week of Prime Time
If your child participated in Prime Time this semester, please note that it ends on March 29th. We hope everyone enjoyed participating in this wonderful program!
Scholastic Book Fair
It’s no April Fool’s joke – Scholastic Book Fair starts April 1st! Students will visit the book fair with their class and can purchase books and other fun items. After school, visit the Kona Ice truck parked by the playground to buy a snow cone. Family Night is Thursday, April 4th—families can come to the Book Fair until 6:30 pm. The Book Fair closes at noon on Friday, April 5th and won’t return until next year. Proceeds from the Book Fair and Kona Ice sales help Ms. Underwood buy new books for the library!
Pre-K/Kindergarten round up!
Tuesday, April 3rd @ 8:10am
WANTED—new incoming children who will be 3*, 4 or 5 on or before September 1st are invited to join us for orientation and registration (Pre-K3* is a new program starting in the 2019/20 school year). Parents will receive all the important info on these programs! Please bring the child’s birth certificate, immunization record, parent/guardian photo identification, and proof of residence (current utility bill, lease agreement, mortgage statement).
2017/2018 Federal Report Cards are available.
Report cards for the state, the district, and each of the district’s campuses include information about Student Achievement by Proficiency Level, Academic Growth, School Quality or Student Success (SQSS), and Civil Rights data, to name a few. Travis Heights Elementary earned the accountability rating of “Met Standard” (the top rating) and was awarded distinctions for ELA/Reading, Math, Science, and Comparative Academic Growth. A copy of our school’s report card is on the bulletin board outside the office and you can also view it on the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) website. We encourage you to check it out! If you have any questions, please feel free to let us know.
If you would like to opt out of paper fliers, please be sure to check the box on the front of our child’s Wednesday folder. Please help us reduce waste and save money!

Please attend this special training at our school on Monday, April 29th, from 4-5:30PM with Isabel Guerrero of Austin Interfaith. Please RSVP to Colin Clark at email@example.com or Isabel at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Isabel will train us in the tried-and-true organizing principles and practices that our school community has used in years past to win our in-district charter and help families facing displacement.
We will learn how to host "House Meetings," where we identify issues of concern and identify new leaders for our school, as well as how to organize campaigns to win on our issues.
As our school population changes, and as families face a variety of challenges, including housing insecurity, language barriers, and deportation threats, this training is foundational to organizing ourselves for the best outcomes for our children, students, faculty and staff.
