A big appreciation pump to everyone who helped make Tamalada and Cultural Fest a success! This annual tradition means so much to all of us at THES and we couldn’t do it without you. We hope this helped kick off your holidays and put you in good spirits!

Winter Break

Thursday, December 20 – Sunday, January 6

It’s hard to believe that Winter Break is upon us! Our break seems extra long this year, but that is because we have tacked on ISD District of Innovation Days (teacher planning) at the beginning of the break and the end of the break. Your teachers will spend 12.20 and 1.3 & 1.4 working hard to make sure THES students are getting the best education they can!

If you need a childcare option for December 20, January 3, or January 4, Creative Action is offering a Day Camp on those dates. Students can have fun with friends through a variety of games, puzzles, art, and creative play, all led by Creative Action’s Professional Teaching Artists, who also teach at our after-school sites and in our school-based programs.

Where: BECKER Elementary
Who: Travis Heights students ages 4–11 (your child does NOT have to be enrolled in Creative Action After School to attend)
Dates: December 20, January 3, and January 4
Time: 8:30am – 5:30pm
Fee: $65 each day

Awards Assemblies

Thursday, January 10 & Friday, January 11

Mark your calendars! Fall Awards Assemblies will be held right after the new year.  Another reminder will be sent after the break. Please note that Pre-K Awards Assembly will be held in May. All Families are welcome to attend!

January 10:

• 2nd Grade @ 8:10am
• 1st Grade @ 9am
• Kinder @ 9:50am

January 11:

• 4th Grade @ 8:10am
• 5th Grade @ 9am
• 3rd Grade @ 9:50am

Dual Language Applications

Dual Language Applications will be available January 7th on the main AISD website. You can also pick up a copy that week in the THES office. They must be turned in by January 31st. If you know of any prospective Pre–K or Kindergarten students who are interested in the THES, please help us spread the word!

There will also be Prospective Parent Tours on January 18th & 29th.

Learn English at THES—FREE!

Learn English at Travis Heights Elementary with free classes. Improve your English for work or everyday communication and change your life!

• Classes are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8–10am
• Register on Wednesday, January 16 from 8–10am at THES—just bring your ID!
• First class is Wednesday, January 23 at 8am
