Fall Beautification Day—reschedule
Saturday, September 29, 9am
It’s a bummer that we had to reschedule Fall Beautification Day, but fingers crossed that this Saturday will more conducive to working outside. All are welcome! Coffee ☕️ and Tacos 🌮 provided. Bring your children, relatives, neighbors, and anyone who enjoys working outside and meeting new friends.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Monday, October 8 – No school!
No school for students this day, but parents are expected for the first Parent Teacher Conferences of the year. If you have not signed up with your child’s teacher yet, please do so!
🎪 Fall Carnival 🎪
Friday, October 19, 5pm
The Carnival is our big Fall event and it has become a great community tradition. Get ready for games, inflatables, a photo booth, a cakewalk, yummy food, and a haunted hallway! We need lots of volunteers and donations to make it successful—from organizing and working the game booths, to cleaning up. Please find the sign-up sheet in your Wednesday folder for available opportunities (and food donation requests by grade) to make this year’s Fall Carnival the best!
📚 Used Book Fair 📚
October 2–4, 8am–3pm
Our wildly popular Used Book Fair starts Tuesday in the Thunderbird Library! Please support the THES library by purchasing used books for just 50 cents each. If you have some free time on Monday, October 1, we could also use some help taking library inventory and setting up for the fair. Please contact Mrs. Underwood to sign up!
Prime Time
October 6–November 16
Don’t forget to turn in your Prime Time sign up sheet—by this Friday! Classes are granted on a first come, first serve basis and late forms will not be accepted. Classes take place after school from 3:15–4:15. Students will be assigned to one class based on availability, and good behavior is expected 🙂
Creative Action Day Camps
10/5, 12/20, 1/3 & 1/4, and 2/15
Have fun with friends through a variety of games, puzzles, art, and creative play, led by Creative Action’s professional teaching artists who teach at our afterschool sites and school-based programs. Camps are at Becker Elementary and are for Becker, Dawson, and Travis Heights students ages 4–11. Dates are 10/5, 12/20, 1/3 & 1/4, and 2/15 from 8:30–5:30 for $65 a day. Register online!

- Prepare for no school on 10/5 and 10/8.
- For parents needing childcare, Extend-A-Care (512.472.9402) and Creative Action (512.442.8773) are offering day camps.
