STEAM Day (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math)

Tomorrow is STEAM Day! At this event, which is a combination of our former Young Scientist’s Day and Young Artist’s Workshop, our 3rd-5th grade students will attend two hands-on sessions (one with an artist and one with a scientist). At the same time, our PK-2nd grade students will be treated to an exciting demonstration from UT’s Physics Circus! These days are always awesome enrichment opportunities for our students, be sure to ask your child what new things they learned! STEAM Day Scientists & Artists Roster

Kerbey Lane Fundraiser- Monday!

Next Monday, April 16th the South Lamar Kerbey Lane will be hosting a profit share for Travis Heights Elementary! What a great excuse to skip cooking and support the school at the same time!

PTA Elections & Budget

Please join us next Thursday, April 19th at 6pm for the PTA meeting. It’s an important one as we will be holding officer elections and approving next year’s budget. The meeting will be immediately followed by a musical performance from our talented Kinder/1st Grade Students!

Poem In Your Pocket

Here at Travis Heights Elementary, we’re celebrating National Poetry Month with Poem in Your Pocket Day on Tuesday, April 24th, 2018. Here’s how it will go:

Write your own original poem, and on the 24th you can read it to at least 5 people and have them sign their name on the back. Then, you’ll take your poem to Mrs. Underwood.

Everyone that participates will receive a small prize AND the winners of the poetry contest will also receive a bigger prize!

So if you haven’t written your poem yet, you’d better get started!

Ms. Roberston’s Retirement Parties!

The school will be hosting a celebration to honor Ms. Robertson’s many years of service to our school, Friday, April 27th from 4-6pm.

And because one party just isn’t enough, the PTA will also be hosting a community potluck in Ms. Robertson’s honor on Saturday, May 12th from 3-6pm.

More details on both to come!

Coffee Chat

Join us Friday, April 27th at 8am for coffee and a conversation regarding technology and Blended Learning at our school.

Communications is where it’s at!

Want to be one of the first to know about what’s going on at school? Join the Communications team! This group helps keep parents informed about what’s happening at the school and additional help is always needed. We are looking for people to:

  • write announcements for the website & social media
  • create flyers for events and activities
  • report on interesting happenings at the school
  • remind event leaders to submit communications

Contact volunteers @ travisheightselementary.com for more information. We really would love to work with you, so please come join the fun!

AISD Budget Shortfall

AISD is facing some serious Budget challenges in the coming years and they are seeking community input. Please take a few minutes to watch this informative video and take a short survey.
