🎉 T-Bird Fiesta!! 🎉

Can you taste summer – just a few weeks away? Join us at Guero’s next Tuesday to celebrate our kids completing another year of school and to and raise money for future Thunderbird 5th graders to attend Camp Champions Outdoor School. This community-building, educational, and crazy-fun three day, two night trip is the highlight of the year for our Thunderbirds and something they look forward to for years. But it can be quite cost prohibitive for our students.

Consider becoming a VIP Scholarship Sponsor and sponsor a child to go on the trip. (or donating at the door)!

Event: Tuesday – May 16th – 5: 30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Where: Guero’s Taco Bar Garden – South Congress
What: Thunderbird Families, Kids + Neighbors (performances by kids + friends)
Why: Raise scholarship money for fifth graders who could not otherwise afford to attend Camp Champions, an Outdoor School and overnight experiential learning experience

Help Us Keep the Communications Flowing!

This is a quick and easy way to help ensure parents stay informed about what’s going on. We are looking for a volunteer regularly check the calendar and send reminders to event leaders that they need to prepare communications materials. It only takes about a half an hour each week but is essential to ensuring messages get to parents on time. If you can help, please contact volunteers@travisheightselementary.com

You are coming back next year, right?

I know it’s on your list but maybe it’s down in the middle somewhere but it’s time to move it up to the number one spot. What is it? Registration for next year. It is crucial for staffing and funding that we have all our students registered as soon as possible. Also if you don’t register before the start of school, your student won’t be assigned a teacher. If you need access to a computer or help through the process (it’s definitely not as easy as it could be) computers are available at the school and Ms. Gio in the office is an expert in the process and available to help anyone who needs it.

Appreciation Pump 💪??💪??💪??

Thank you to everyone who helped make Teacher Appreciation Week successful. The teachers and staff felt so loved! And thanks to Willow McIndoo for leading the effort!

Summer Chicken Crew

We need a team of volunteers to help care for the THES chickens over the summer. Training will be provided and we are looking for families to take care of the chickens for a week at a time. This will involve coming to the school daily to feed/water, clean the coop and let them roam free for a bit. For more information, please contact volunteers@travisheightselementary.com.

    Join us this month for a helpful training on managing strong emotions in our children and implementing peace areas at home by our Travis Heights counselors. You’ll leave with some quick strategies to try at home, raffle items, and a make-and-take project for your child’s very own peace area.

    Thunderbird Thrift Sale

    Time: 8:00 am-12:00 pm

    Location: THES gym

    Description:

    Save the date and save your stuff! The 2nd Annual Thunderbird Thrift will take place in the gym from 8am-noon. This fun event was created last year to present a great way for our community to shop second hand and also help raise money for our school. 

    Please donate GENTLY USED CLOTHES, TOYS, BOOKS, HOUSEWARES, and ELECTRONICS. Ask your friends, neighbors & family if they have donations for the sale – the more inventory we have, the better the sale!

    Shop the sale early, and stick around for BEAUTIFICATION DAY! Just 30 minutes of gardening and clean-up can make a huge difference in how our campus looks and feels for our children.  The whole family is welcome!

    It's My Park Day: Clean up Blunn Creek!

    Description:

    Volunteers are encouraged to meet at Blunn Creek for a neighborhood park cleanup. Austin Parks Foundation will lend waders, grabbers, trash bags, and will also dispose of trash. Click here for more info! Please spread the word and help keep the park behind our school beautiful!
