Austin ISD Food Services

UPDATED March 20
Austin ISD

Food Services will prepare and provide meals for children under the age of 19 and their parents or caregivers at more than 70 locations while school is closed due to COVID-19 precautions. AISD is working in collaboration with the Texas Department of Agriculture.

Starting March 23, meals will be available Monday-Friday. Curbside meals will be offered at more than 15 sites. Austin ISD school buses will deliver meals throughout the community at more than 50 locations. Sites were chosen based on 50 percent or more students receiving meal benefits.
Each child may receive one breakfast and one lunch meal, daily. Through the community-supported Austin ISD Crisis Support Fund (https://austinedfund.org/crisis-support-fund/), parents and caregivers accompanying their children may receive daily breakfast and lunch meals. Children, parents and caregivers may also receive a weekend pack on Fridays, to help provide additional food security. Children, parents and caregivers must be present to receive meals. Food is available until it runs out.
Meals will feature foods that are cooked and prepared by staff in Austin ISD kitchens. These meals will be chilled and served cold to be taken home and reheated. The healthy meals served will include protein, grains, fruits and vegetables. The option of vegetarian meals, milk and compostable cutlery will be available.
Families are recommended to complete the meal survey for their preferred curbside or delivery site. The survey is not required, however, doing so will help ensure food does not run out. Surveys will be open Sunday-Thursday from 5 p.m. to noon, to help with meal planning.
