A special message from our Principal

Dear Travis Heights Elementary School Community,

It is with great sorrow and deep sympathy that I must inform you of the death of a master teacher, Gene Brandon, who passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014. He was a phenomenal teacher who was talented, dedicated to his work, and taught his students with humor, respect, and love. He will be greatly missed by all of us at Travis Heights.

When your child learns about his loss, he or she may benefit from discussing his or her feelings with you. Please be aware that it is normal for children to experience a loss in a variety of ways. Help them understand that it is okay to feel sad or cry. Some children may not feel anything right away. No matter when the feelings surface, please talk with them as honestly as possible and know that you and your child are not alone.

Our school is a family that shares happy and sad times together. We will be providing support for our students and staff, during this difficult time. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Brandon’s family and friends and the Travis Heights community during this time of loss.

We do not have information regarding a memorial service for Mr. Brandon, however, we will share the information on our Facebook page soon as we know the date, time, and location. Our school community will take time to plan a unique and special way to honor Mr. Brandon, the caring man we saw at school every day. Everyone will be invited to participate as we celebrate the legacy of Gene Brandon.

Sincerely,

Lisa Robertson, Principal
