First Grade: Teachers

Amanda Moore

My Email:

amanda.a.moore@austinisd.org

About Me:

As a child, Ms. Moore got home from school and subjected her siblings to playing student. She was addicted to the palpable high from opening a new box of crayons or sharpening a new pencil. In secondary school, she spent afternoons and weekends tutoring. She left her hometown for university, but it wasn’t long before she was working as a nanny and volunteering at the children’s hospital.

In the years that followed, she took other career paths, but she could not seem to escape the need for daily interaction with children. Ms. Moore enjoys children and likes sharing with them, seeing the look that comes over their faces when they begin to understand- when they come to a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Ms. Moore joined the THES family in 2017. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, lounging in hammocks, going to concerts, killing house plants, burning dinner, and combating the animal fur that tumbles through her house no matter how much she cleans.

Tara Hymes

About Me:

I am very excited to be here at Travis Heights Elementary. I love teaching and am very passionate about sharing my love of learning! I received my masters degree in elementary education with a minor in reading education at Texas State University.

I am blessed to be married to an amazing man, James, and we have one beautiful child, Indigo, who is a former Thunderbird. I love the color purple, dancing, hiking, reading, cuddling up with my family to watch a movie, and traveling. I have traveled to 6 continents and over 30 different countries. I have two labradoodles, Shen and Bodhi, who bring our family so much joy and love; watching them play is better than watching TV!

Wesley Paparone

My Email:

wesley.paparone@austinisd.org

About Me:

Mr. Paparone began teaching 1st grade here at THES in 2015, though he had several years of teaching experience before joining us. One of the things that he loves the most about THES is the blend and cultures that you find in our school. Everyone always has a smile on their face! Mr. Paparone lived in Guatemala for three years where he met his beautiful wife, Mafer. He has also traveled to Mexico, El Salvador, Ecuador, and Thailand. His favorite color is turquoise and his favorite animal is the Liger (half tiger, half lion). He wanted to school at Hogwarts, but instead went to University of Maryland, College Park. Mr. Paparone wants his future students and their families to know that he loves to have fun and be a little silly when he teaches!

Lina Nuncio

My Email:

lina.nuncio@austinisd.org

About Me:

Ms. Nuncio has been teaching for more than 18 years, and began at THES in 2010. She graduated from Texas State University back when it was still Southwest Texas University! She loves to see students grow in their learning, and being able to teach in two languages is one of her favorite things about Travis Heights. She and her husband Ben have two children, Nicholas who is at THES, and Aly who is at Ann Richards. Ms. Nuncio has traveled to several places, including Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, Florida and Durango, Mexico. She loves all shades of the color blue, and adores dogs and
puppies. In her free time, she loves running, hiking, and going dancing! She is very
excited about getting to know her new students and their parents!
