Travis Heights Art Trail This Weekend
Make art this weekend with Travis Heights Elementary during the Travis Heights Art Trail! Kids Arts & Crafts, School Art Showcase, Large Scale Collaborative Art Activities, All Ages Welcome. Saturday & Sunday, November 5th & 6th, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Find us at the corner of Travis Heights Blvd & Bonham Terrace, (1419 Travis Heights Blvd). Proceeds of event will benefit school art program. Family Fun & Fitness has moved!
Attention 3rd-5th Grade Parents: Family Fun and Fitness Day has moved to the Fall! This year’s 3rd-5th Family Fun and Fitness Day will take place the morning of Friday, November 18th. Families are invited to join the fitness fun so mark your calendars!
Young Scientist Day is next week!
Thursday, November 10th is the 11th annual Young Scientist Day. In this annual event, scientists from around the city will come to engage our 3-5th graders in small group sessions on a variety of science topics while our younger students experience an exciting science presentation by UT’s Physics Circus. Tamalada!
Plans are underway for Tamalada (Nov. 30th) & Cultural Festival 2016 (Dec.3rd) These fun annual traditions celebrate the diversity in our school with tamale making, performances, cultural tables, and a Mercado with items for sale. However additional planning volunteers are needed to make these events happen!
If you can help organize tamale making, solicit donations, or create children’s activities for the Tamalada, please contact Parent Support Specialist, Daniela Licona at daniela.licona@austinisd.org or 512-414-3494.
If you can help arrange performers, organize decorations, manage the Cultural Tables or the Mercado please contact Jeniffer Barrera at volunteers@travisheightselementary.com. If you would like to volunteer at the event, host a cultural table or rent a Mercado booth be sure to fill out the form from your Wednesday Folder and return it to the office!
Square 1 Art- Orders are due today! Packets were sent home with students last week, be sure to get your order in today if you want free shipping to the school. A portion of the profit benefits our art program.

Would you be interested in being able to buy all of your child’s school supplies online in one easy to order kit? It could happen! There are many companies who provide this type of service. We need a volunteer to research the options and work with the school/PTA on selecting one that would work best for our school.
