Academic Mentoring

Description: 

This program is focused on recruiting, training and managing volunteers school wide.  In 2008-2009 THES 3rd grade math scores rose dramatically thanks, in large part, to the support provided by Austin Partners in Math (PIM) Volunteers.  Due to budgetary constraints, PIM is no longer able to provide direct support to THES.  However, a strong partnership has been formed and PIM is excited to provide THES the support it needs to create it’s own program modeled after it’s already proven successful volunteer program.  We must seize the opportunity this partnership provides and expand upon the program to address the specific needs of our campus.

Details:

Funding will be utilized for:

•Instructional materials and supplies for students.

•Volunteer recruiting throughout the community, comprehensive training and on-going coordination to reach students.

•On-campus Volunteer Coordinator and Program Development Specialist.

Recognition:

•Your name or company logo on all recruiting and training materials distributed throughout the Austin Community with company inserts on display on campus.

•Special Recognition as a THES Sponsoring Partner for this project on a special flyer sent to every family at Travis Heights twice a year.

•Large Banner displayed prominently at school Carnivals.

Commitment:

•$1,000 for recruiting and training materials

•$2,000 for classroom materials

•$6,500 for on-campus training

•$3,500 for volunteer resource coordination

TOTAL COST FOR SCHOOL TO PROVIDE THIS PROGRAM:  $15,000
